The Department of Business & Economics invites undergraduate students from all majors (including undecided) to join us for a special breakfast event exploring our influence as women and debunking the myths of women in business.
Influential with Jo Saxton
When God looked down from heaven and made women, what on earth was He thinking? Is there a purpose to our passions, gifts and talents? Keynote speaker Jo Saxton will help us explore our God-given identity and our Kingdom commission to make a powerful difference in the world around us. We’re influential women—Are we ready?
About our keynote speaker: Born to Nigerian parents and raised in London, Jo Saxton has spread her message for the past twenty years across the UK and North America. She has served as a pastor at St. Thomas Church in Sheffield, England, and in a wide range of churches in the United States. In 2009 Jo went to work for 3DM where she continues to serve while writing books, speaking around the world, and planting a church with her husband. In her book More than Enchanting: Breaking Through Barriers to Influence Your World (IVP Books, 2012), Jo discusses the central role of women in the church and how to handle the juxtaposition of the biblical model and the current marginalization women find in their churches, neighborhoods, cities, and society.
Debunking the Myths of Women in Business
“Do I have to love numbers to work in business?” “Can I pursue a career in business and still have a family?” “I want to make a Kingdom impact – can you do that working in business?” These and other myths often cause women who sense a call to business to question whether they should pursue that calling. If this is you, you won’t want to miss a powerful panel discussion from women in business who will help to debunk these and other common myths.
